"The Tempest" strands the exiled magician Prospero and his daughter on an enchanted island, where he conjures a storm to bring his enemies within reach. Thought to be Shakespeare's last solo play, its spirit Ariel and creature Caliban have made it a touchstone of fantasy and post-colonial reading.
