Scott's narrative poem of a hunted king, a Highland chieftain, and the lady Ellen Douglas on the shores of Loch Katrine sold like nothing verse had sold before. Its romantic Trossachs scenery launched a tourist pilgrimage to Scotland that has never really stopped.
